For more than 90 years, Casablanca has been part of the heartbeat of the Bagnell Dam Strip. What started as a small gathering place in 1932 has grown into one of Lake of the Ozarks’ most recognized hangouts — known for great pizza, cold drinks, live music, and a fun crowd all season long.
Today, Casablanca & Casagrotto continues that tradition with a modern twist:
brick-oven pizzas, a full bar, indoor + outdoor seating, and a lively atmosphere that brings locals and lake visitors together every day of the week.
The Casagrotto Pizza Story
When we converted the basement into what is now Casagrotto, our first pizzas… well, they sucked. Badly. We were frustrated, the oven was hot, and the customers were honest — too honest. So we did what every desperate new pizzeria does: we Googled “best pizza in America.”
That’s when we discovered Chef Santo Bruno — a 40-year veteran of the pizza industry, a national pizza consultant, and a recent inductee into the National Pizza Hall of Fame (yes, that’s a real thing).
We reached out, and in his thick Italian accent, he immediately asked us:
“You want to make-a million dollars?”
Of course we said yes.
Chef Bruno sent us his recipe, coached us over the phone for weeks, and helped us tweak every detail until customers started saying the magic words:
“This is the best pizza I’ve ever had.”
So thank you, Chef Bruno.
We’re still trying to figure out that million dollars… but the pizza?
That part we nailed.
